Saytify for Engineers: Voice Commands for AutoCAD and Bilingual Dictation

The problem: your hands are on the mouse and your head is in two languages

An engineer’s day is not one task. It is a drawing open in AutoCAD, a consultant’s email waiting for a reply, a WhatsApp from the site supervisor, an RFI to write before the meeting, and a quotation that was due yesterday. All of it happens in Arabic and English at once: the sentence is Arabic, the terms are English, and the drawing numbers are both.

Typing slows every one of those tasks. In AutoCAD you reach for the keyboard for every command, then back to the mouse. In email you spell out “cable tray”, “shop drawing”, “as-built” and “AHU” inside Arabic sentences, and every phone keyboard or dictation tool mangles at least one of them. And most dictation tools send your voice to a server, which is not acceptable for projects under NDA.

Saytify was built by an engineer in Jeddah to fix exactly this day. It does two things for you.

1. Voice commands for AutoCAD

Hold your command key, say the command, release. Saytify types it into the AutoCAD command line and presses Enter for you, so your right hand never leaves the mouse.

Hundreds of built-in phrases, many with natural synonyms: “Trim” or “Trim That”, “Mirror” or “Flip It”, “Layer” or “Layer Manager”.
Short commands are recognised in a fraction of a second, because common phrases are matched by a dedicated grammar before the AI model is even needed.
Chain up to four phrases in one breath. “Offset fifty Enter” types o, Enter, 50, Enter: OFFSET started with a 50-unit distance, ready for you to pick the object.
Numbers are spoken naturally. “two point five” becomes 2.5, “negative thirty” becomes -30, “at sign” types @ for relative coordinates.
Saytify knows which app is in front. With AutoCAD active it uses the AutoCAD list; on the desktop it switches to Windows commands (Show Desktop, Task View, Snap Left, New Tab, Screenshot…).
No plug-in, no version lock. Saytify sends keystrokes to the command line exactly as you would type them, so it does not depend on a specific AutoCAD release or an add-in installation.

A drawing session, by voice

Open the plan and say “Zoom Extents”.
“Layer Isolate”, click the wall layer: everything else fades.
“Offset fifty Enter”, click the wall line and the side: a parallel line 50 units away.
“Trim”, pick the cutting edges, trim the corners.
“Fillet”, set the radius, pick two lines.
“Layer Unisolate”, then “Linear Dimension” and place the dimension.
“Make It Red” on the selection you want the reviewer to notice.
“Save”.

Your hand stayed on the mouse the whole time.

2. Bilingual dictation for everything around the drawing

Hold your talk key (or a mouse thumb button), speak, release. Saytify types clean text into Outlook, WhatsApp Desktop, Word, Excel, your browser, or an AutoCAD text box.

Arabic and English in the same sentence, exactly as spoken. English terms stay in Latin letters; they are never translated.
Your dialect stays yours. Saytify does not rewrite how you talk.
Engineering numbers come out right. Spoken numbers become digits, “70.5 متر مربع” becomes “70.5 م2”, “50 سنتي” becomes “50 سم”, and a phone number spoken in groups becomes one number.
Clean text, not raw transcription. Split words and misheard letters are corrected locally; filler words are removed. Choose the accuracy level (Light, Medium, High) per situation.
Mixed text reads correctly everywhere. Saytify inserts the invisible direction marks that keep Arabic-plus-English sentences in the right order even in left-to-right boxes.

Say “Multiline Text”, place the box, then dictate: غرفة الكهرباء الرئيسية - منسوب الأرضية +0.15 - راجع المخطط E-101.

Tips from daily use

Put the command key on a mouse thumb button. Your right hand stays on the mouse; your left hand is free. The talk key can be a second button.
Say phrases as they appear in the list. Synonyms are built in, but “Trim That” works better than “please trim this line”.
Watch the command line. Commands are typed exactly like keystrokes; if you mis-speak, say “Cancel” (Esc) and try again.
Keep AutoCAD in front. Commands go to the active window; click into AutoCAD before speaking.
Use “Enter” as a word to confirm a prompt, and “Arrow Right Three Times” style phrases to navigate dialogs.
Add your project vocabulary (client names, equipment tags, Arabic spellings of English brands) to the personal dictionary so dictation gets them right first time.
Review before you send. Dictation is fast, but an RFI goes on the record. Saytify shows the before/after correction so you can check quickly.
